Meeting offers open discussion, Q&A with county officials

Montezuma County officials will host a town hall Monday evening to engage residents, seek community input and answer questions.

The meeting will be held at the Pleasant View Fire Station, 15235 Road CC in Pleasant View, from 6 to 8 p.m. County commissioners will lead the session, which will include community updates, open discussion, a Q&A session and an opportunity for residents to share priorities or concerns.

The county began hosting town halls about a year ago and aims to hold them quarterly, according to Public Information Officer Vicki Shaffer.

Meetings rotate locations to give each community a chance to discuss issues specific to that area. They also take place in the evening to accommodate residents who work during the day and cannot attend the county’s daytime “Coffee with the County” meetings, Shaffer said.

County administrative offices will close Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. However, the landfill will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the county said.
