In Southwest Colorado, summer’s not over until we say it is – and that includes the annual trek up the hill to the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, scheduled for Sept. 18 to 20 this year.
Jon Batiste, Taj Mahal & Keb’ Mo’, Marcus King Band, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, The Record Company and Samantha Fish are just a few of the artists set to take the stage, the festival announced Wednesday.
Now in its 32nd year, Telluride Blues & Brews has seen some heavy hitters on its stages over the years, including Buddy Guy, Gov’t Mule, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Anders Osborne, Steve Winwood and way more than we can list here.
“Thirty-two years in and we have a fantastic blues-forward lineup,” said Festival Director Steve Gumble in a news release. “We are thrilled to welcome seven-time Grammy Award winner and energetic performer Jon Batiste for the first time. Jon and his band, paired with blues legends Taj Mahal & Keb’ Mo’ and young guns Marcus King Band, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country and Samantha Fish will make for an event not to miss.”
Also on deck this year are G. Love & Special Sauce, Charlie Musselwhite & GA-20, Judith Hill and Tab Benoit as well as stand-up comedy featuring Troy Walker & Friends. This year’s Music Maker Foundation will feature Terry “Harmonica” Bean, Sugar Harp, Donkor Woodward, Little Willie Farmer and Scramble Campbell.
The multistage event includes the Main Stage, Blues Stage and Campground Stage, and, according to the release, showcases an eclectic mix of blues, funk, rock, jam-band, gospel and soul performances.
Along with the music, the festival also includes a weekend of other activities – food and craft vendors, free yoga sessions, late-night shows in town and, of course, a host of craft breweries to check out.
A handful of ticket option are available now (although it looks like the super-swanky options are already sold out) with single-day tickets up for grabs beginning at 10 a.m. March 18. Single-day tickets start at $110 plus service fees.
Additional artists and a full schedule announcement will be released in early March.
