Five new members joined the Montezuma-Cortez RE-1 school board Tuesday during a special meeting where officers were selected.
The new members, elected in the Nov.4 election and certified by the Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder, are Lara Maria Blair of District A, Barbara Mate of District B, Joshua Shumway of District D, Justine Bayles of District E and Laura DeWitt of District F.
They join returning members Mike Lynch and Jason Hall.
Shumway was elected president, DeWitt vice president, Lynch secretary and Hall treasurer.
The board’s first regular meeting is Dec. 16 at 6 p.m.
