Hot air balloons filled the sky over Farmington this weekend during the 2025 Four Corners Balloon Rally, drawing crowds with morning ascensions and evening glows.
The event, held Friday through Sunday, featured group ascensions from Lake Farmington and Animas Valley Mall, as bystanders gathered to view the launches from prime spots including Saddleback Park, Lions Wilderness Park and San Juan College. Spectators gathered early to watch balloons inflate and lift off at sunrise, and had a close-up view by walking through the launch sites.
Evening balloon glows lit up San Juan College and the Farmington Civic Center. Food vendors, live music and activities gave spectators a chance to see tethered balloons illuminated against the night sky, creating a colorful spectacle for families and photographers.
Volunteers play a key role throughout the weekend, assisting pilots with inflation, launch and landing. Some planned to join chase crews and received commemorative rally T-shirts and access to a pilot reception ahead of the rally.
Organizers said in a news release that the rally was expected to draw balloonists from across the country.
A sampling of photos provided by the City of Farmington Marketing Department captured the vibrant colors, smiling faces and balloon teams.
