The eighth annual community celebration that is the Mancos Valley Summer Brewfest is Saturday, with gates at the Mancos Brewing Co. opening at 1 p.m. and closing at 8 p.m.
“It’s a great day of music, dancing, fun and relaxation in beautiful Mancos,” a news release said.

Kathy Hands, co-owner of the Mancos Brewing Co., said the event was about “community.”
Two nonprofits split proceeds from ticket and token sales the festival. Last year, the event gave $14,400 to two nonprofits.
This year, it’ll support Mancos Valley Resources – which supports more than a dozen programs and groups in the area – and The Pay It Forward Fund, said Hands.
According to its website, The Pay It Forward Fund supports those in the Mancos Valley struggling financially in the wake of “unexpected medical situations or personal hardships.”
In addition to supporting those nonprofits, Brewfest supports local breweries.
The Mancos Brewing Co. and Durango’s Carvers Brewery and Anarchy Brewery – plus Fenceline Cider – will be pouring drinks that those 21 and older can enjoy.

Local groups and nonprofits will have educational booths in the parking lot alongside vendors selling “goodies and gear,” food and beer. Inside, attendees can bid on silent auction items – goods and services offered by businesses and individuals. Proceeds from those sales also go to the nonprofits.
Three bands will play throughout the day, beginning at 2 p.m. with Throwback Swing, a three-piece classic swing and Latin grooves band. Midnight Cowboy, which features music of The Velvet Underground and tunes from that era will play at 4 p.m., a news release said.
Goathead, “a roots music quintet from Montezuma County,” is the event’s headliner and will take the stage at 6 p.m.
During a set break, Riff Raff Brewing Co. from Pagosa Springs will speak about their “earth-powered beer” that’s brewed with energy from the world’s deepest geothermal hot spring, the Great Spring.
