County Board approves new agreement with online auction company

On Tuesday, the Montezuma Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted on an agreement with the internet auction company Purple Wave Auction to give items owned by the county a second life. The agreement authorizes the county to sell its own “surplus vehicles and equipment,” said County Commissioner Gerald Koppenhafer.

Users of the website can bid on items for sale that are being auctioned by the county.

Currently available for auction, the county has a dump truck, a boom truck and a few stripped Sheriff’s Office vehicles and “more to come through the year,” said County Commissioner Jim Candelaria.

Candelaria said that the company takes care of just about everything, so the county simply has to sign over the titles to the surplus property.

Purple Wave Auctions is a Kansas-based company with a nationwide presence.
