Southwest Open School offers educational opportunities during the summer

Southwest Open School has announced summer learning initiatives and programs for interested students.
Various programs planned in June and July

Southwest Open School will offer summer programs in June and July, giving students a chance to earn credits, build skills, and prepare for the upcoming school year.

In June, two teachers will lead a Mountains and Lake Trip, combining outdoor exploration in Western Colorado with English Language Arts credit. SWOS is also partnering with the Southwest Colorado Education Collaborative to expand learning options.

Another teacher, in collaboration with Fundamental Needs, will run an entrepreneurship program focused on career-ready business skills. Online courses will remain available for students needing flexible schedules.

In July, the school will host “New Kids on the Block,” a weeklong orientation for incoming students ahead of the 2025–26 school year.

SWOS is also hiring a STEM and humanities teacher. Interested candidates can contact the school for details.
