An Aztec man was arrested early Saturday morning in connection to the deaths of two bicyclists on Navajo Route 36.
Jaron Todecheeny, 35, was charged with homicide by vehicle and drunken driving, according to a news release from the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called at 1:48 a.m. Saturday to the scene near mile marker 27 on Navajo Route 36. There they found two bicyclists dead after allegedly being struck by a 2006 Ford Ranger pickup driven by Todecheeny, the news release states.
The male and female bicyclists, both of Aztec, died at the scene. Their identification is pending notification of next of kin, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Todecheeny was booked at 9:19 a.m. into the San Juan County Detention Center.
