The county has eliminated Firewise of Southwest Colorado in its proposed 2014 budget. Firewise is an essential resource in our fire prone area and provides education, services and incentive rebates to help county residents avoid fire disasters.

The support of Firewise of Southwest Colorado allowed us to eliminate huge fire risk on our property. I would like to see other county residents reduce wildfire potential with help from Firewise.

I hope the County will consider reinstating the seven one-hundredths of 1 percent of the budget that Firewise would cost the taxpayers in 2014.
