The Hampstead Stage Theatre Company will stage a live production of American Folktales and Songs at the Cortez Public Library on June 27 at 2 p.m. as part of the Summer Reading Family Entertainment series.

Hampstead Stage garnered fans in Cortez with its performances of “A Christmas Carol” at the Sunflower Theatre last year.

The Hampstead family began its mission back in 1983. Hampstead Stage Company got its name from founders Daniel Matmor, Michael Phillips, and Katherine and Gordon Preston, who came to America from Hampstead, England. Since its inception, our company has grown into one of the largest educational touring companies in the nation.

After its performance, at 3:15 p.m., the performers will teach an Animal Physicality workshop, according to a news release from children’s librarian Laura McHenry. The class for children ages 5-12 is limited to 35. Register at the library or online: bit.ly/2lmRXyq.
