Five people were sentenced in Montezuma County Court on Tuesday by Judge JenniLynn Lawrence.

Edbert Elkriver was sentenced to 150 days in prison with credit for 61 days already served, as well as 12 months probation and 120 hours of useful public service. The felony sentence was in connection with an alcohol-related driving conviction, which was Elkriver’s fourth.

Lawrence told Elkriver that his next 90 days in prison would be tough, but the first day after he was released would be the toughest.

“I wish you best of luck in your sobriety,” she said.

Darcy Engels was sentenced to 12 months probation with a suspended 365 days in jail, as well as 24 hours of public service and a $200 fine. The sentence was in connection with a prescription drug-related driving conviction, in which Engels fell asleep at the wheel while driving from Rico to Dolores.

Jerry Smith was sentenced to 65 days in jail with two years probation and a $600 fine. The sentence was in connection with an alcohol-related driving conviction in May.

Erick Levasseur was sentenced to one year of probation with 365 days in jail suspended as long as he completes probation. The sentence was in connection with an alcohol-related driving conviction in October.

Lacey Levasseur was sentenced to 10 days in jail with two years of probation, 60 hours of public service and a $600 fine. The sentence was in connection with an alcohol-related driving conviction.

A jury trial for Jessica Grant, of Mancos, started Thursday, but was declared a mistrial. The trial was in connection with a child abuse charge in Mancos in April. The trial was reset for Dec. 8 at 8 a.m. in county court before Judge Lawrence.
