Jakob Rudosky finishes fall season at Missouri Western

2014 Dolores grad records two top-20 finishes in junior year at Missouri Western

Jakob Rudosky’s fall golf season at Missouri Western State University is in the books.

The 2014 Dolores graduate played in five tournaments this fall, finishing in 31st place at the weather-shortened season opener in Axtell, Nebraska.

He followed the performance by shooting a 220 to tie for 40th place with teammate Patrick McCarthy at the Northeastern State University Golf Classic in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and then shot 6 over to tie for 17th at the Winona State University Invitational in Lake City, Minnesota.

Rudosky recorded his best finish at the Griffons’ home meet on October 10-11, tying for 14th place individually, shooting 8 over par over three rounds to help lead the Griffons to a sixth-place finish.

“All three rounds in the home tournament I went into the last three holes with a chance to shoot under par, then kind of gave it away at the end,” he explained. “But overall, I would definitely say that was my best tournament of the year.”

Rudosky tied for 84th place at the Lindenwood Invitational in St. Charles, Missouri to wrap up his junior fall season at MWSU, and said that his wedge game has improved since his sophomore year.

“My biggest improvement was in my wedge game,” he said. “I worked a lot on 100-yards-and-in shots, so if I was in position to make a birdie my chances were good. And if I had to punch out, my chances were still good to hit par.”

Rudosky will continue to get outside and practice while the weather allows it during the offseason. And he is planning to spend time in Phoenix over Christmas break to put in more reps.

Then, in the spring comes the Griffons’ more significant season, featuring a conference tournament and postseason play.

Rudosky’s goals for the spring of 2017 are to record two top-10 finishes individually and to help the Griffons move into the top-10 rankings as a team.
