Stan Antone Foster passed away at his home in Dolores on May 10, 2014. Stan was born on Oct. 6, 1956, in Cortez, Colo. The family lived in Slickrock, Colo., at the time of his birth. After Stan's father, Ed Foster, was killed in a mining accident when he was 6 weeks old, the family moved to Arriola, where he grew up.

Stan was engaged in many different occupations throughout his life. At the age of 12 he worked as a farm/ranch hand. Later he worked as a carpenter, logger, heavy equipment operator, hard rock miner, realtor, real estate developer, mining superintendent, mining consultant, mine developer and prospector.

Stan was preceded in death by his father, Ed Ryce Foster and two stepfathers, Art McGee and Bob Striegle. Stan is survived by his mother, Eva Wilbur Foster McGee and his wife Annalee Allred. Stan has four siblings, Wade, Cherrie, Dusty Foster and Travis McGee. Stan is the father of six children and 14 grandchildren. His children are Joed and Zachary Foster, Gabe Yachavelli, Cassidy Parks, Adam and Jacob Foster. Stan's grandchildren are Hayden and Isabell Foster, Trent, Morgan and Lincoln Foster, Stella Yachavelli, Ezra, Mia, Avi and Elihu Parks, Casandra and Darian Foster and Xavier and Shamus Foster. Stan is the stepfather of three children, Ryan, Holly and Beau Bower.

Stan loved life and people. "Life was good" he said, "I'm not afraid to die." He enjoyed every day until he became sick.

Stan's many friends and family will miss his funny stories and contagious laughter.

The family would like to thank Stan's daughter Cassidy and his wife Annalee for their loving care through the last months of his life.

We would also like to thank Stan's many friends for coming by to see him and say goodbye.

Stan was buried in the Battlerock Cemetery in McElmo Canyon, Colo., next to his father.
