Ute Mountain Rodeo Team kicks off season

Lockhart wins twice in early season events

With summer just around the corner, the Ute Mountain High School Rodeo team kicked off their spring season, hoping to continue a long run of success.

Lockhart paces team in Lamar

Competing in their first event of the season, which was held in Lamar on April 5-6, team members competed with over 100 other competitors and enjoyed solid results.

Leading the way for the Ute Mountain team was Tanner Lockhart, who finished first in the saddle bronc event with a score of 64.

Also turning in a solid performance for the team was Stormi Pitman, who placed third in breakaway roping (3.460) and seventh in goat tying on the rodeo’s second day (10.51).

Rounding out the team’s top finishers, Cassie Finley placed 10th in breakaway roping on the rodeo’s first day (14.36) and Cayce Lockhart finished 10th in barrel racing on the rodeo’s second day (16.112).

Team performs well in Golden

Following up their season opening performance with a rodeo in Golden on April 12-13, the Ute Mountain Team again enjoyed solid results.

Winning the saddle bronc event for the second consecutive rodeo was Tanner Lockhart, who scored an impressive 72 on the rodeo’s second day.

Also performing well for the Ute Mountain Team was Stormi Pitman, who finished second in the goat tying (8.78) on the first day of the rodeo.

Other top finishers included Cammie Maxwell, who finished third in the barrel racing on day two (14.880) Madeline Shaline, who finished 19th in barrel racing on day two (15.239).

Next up for the Ute Mountain Rodeo Team will be rodeos in Pueblo, Henderson, Eagle and Kiowa.

The Colorado State High School Finals will be held May 21-26 in Craig.
